Know India Program

                                                                       

1. Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India offers short term Scholarships/Study tour to India for People of Indian Origins, under the “Know India Programme (KIP)” which is a 25 days orientation programme (with 10 days in the partner state) conducted with a view to promote awareness on different facets of life in India, and the progress made by the country in various fields e.g. Economic, Industrial, Education, Science & Technology, Communication & Information Technology and Culture. The details of the KIPs are as under:-

Applications for 49 - 52 Know India Programmes (KIP) that would span 25 days each, are invited from People of Indian origin (excluding non-resident Indians) in the age group of 18-30 years. Eligibility Criteria is given below:

  • This programme is open only to youth of Indian Origin (excluding non-resident Indians) in the age group of 18-30 years, as on the first day of the month in which the programme is expected to begin. Applicant must provide his/her previous PIO/OCI card number or that of his parents, grandparents or great grandparents. In the absence of any documentary proof of Indian Origin, the applicant must submit a written undertaking (Declaration form) about his/her Indian Origin which must be attested by DCM/DCG or HOM/HOP of the Indian Mission/Consulate.

  • The applicant should not have participated in any previous KIP or Internship Programmes for Diaspora Youth or ‘Study India Programme’ (SIP) or any other programme organized and paid for by the Ministry of External Affairs or any other Ministry/Department in Government of India or a State Government in India.

  • Minimum Qualification required is graduation from a recognized University/Institute or enrolled for graduation.

  • The applicants should be able to speak in English, should have studied English as a subject at the High School level or have English as the medium of instruction for undergraduate course.

  • Those who have not visited India before will be given preference.

3. Return air ticket for selected participants will be arranged by the Indian Mission/Post. Participants would be required to pay 10% of total air fare. As per the mandatory provision before issuing ticket and ‘gratis’ visa by Indian Mission/Post, selected participants must submit a copy of valid travel and medical insurance for the duration of their visit to India.

4. Eligible applicants need to login on the KIP portal www.kip.gov.in and register for the same. All the information regarding registration, application and guidelines are available on the website.

5. Last date for submission of the online applications for 49th & 50th Know India Programmes is 15th October 2018 and 51st & 52nd Know India Programmes is 15th November 2018.
