Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children [SPDC] Scheme for the academic session 2019-20

Every academic years, Government of India offers 150 scholarship under the scheme called “Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children [SPDC]” to the children of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indian (NRIs) in 68 countries for pursuing Undergraduate courses in Indian Universities/Institutes.

2. Under this scheme 150 scholarships are granted and financial assistance for specific undergraduate courses in Professional and Non-Professional courses (except Medical and related courses) is provided in Indian Institutions & Universities by providing Scholarship to the extent of 75% of the total Institutional Economic Cost.

3. Eligibility Criteria :

(I) Nationality :

  • Children of Persons of Indian Origin
  • Children of non-Resident Indian
  • Children of Indian workers in ECR countries – studying in India

In cases where the candidate is born outside India and his/her parents are neither a PIO nor an NRI, are not eligible for any benefit under the scheme.

(II) Age : SPDC is open to applicants in the age group of 17 to 21 years as on 01st October 2019.

(III) Academic Qualification : Applicant must have passed Advanced Level or equivalent with minimum 60% aggregate marks or equivalent grades in aggregate of all the subjects in the qualifying examination. The candidate must have studied the prescribed essential subjects at the qualifying examination level to pursue a particular course of study.
